William P. "Bill" Kuehn

Over the past three decades Bill Kuehn has been an innovative leader with both growth and underperforming businesses including manufacturing, distribution, service and retail companies.  He has been a hands-on turnaround consultant/Chief Restructuring Officer for many troubled companies.  Additionally he has been an interim board director and/or executive for other companies undergoing change, including the positions of Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer.  

Kuehn has worked as a leading executive, restructuring officer or performance improvement consultant with companies in several industries including:  healthcare, wellness, foods/beverages, consumer products and services, industrial manufacturing and distribution/reselling, electronic components and instrumentation, commercial printing, aerospace/defense, software, energy and construction/real estate companies.  Previous experiences include serving seven years as a management consultant at KPMG and Price Waterhouse. 

Other consulting assignments have included:  Mrs. Fields, a retail cookie and frozen yogurt (TCBY) company; LA Gear, a publicly traded, apparel manufacturer controlled by Shamrock Holdings; Linear Corporation, a publicly traded, security products manufacturer; Paul Munroe Hydraulics, a hydraulic equipment distribution and packaging company; Ormet Corp., a vertically integrated aluminum company; ColorGraphics, a high growth, integrated commercial printer; Fornaca Bakery, a commercial bakery operating in Chapter 11; United Supply, an aircraft parts machining company; Whiteworth Townsend, a pharmaceutical company supplying private label products to drug store chains; Coastal Physician Group, a troubled, publicly traded healthcare provider; Grancare, a rapid growth retirement home operator; and Slautterback Industries, a VC financed, high technology manufacturer. Kuehn is also experienced with the automotive industry as an Operations Improvement consultant to sales management at Mazda Motors USA. 

Executive assignments have included the following: CEO of Bolstad Industries, an industrial equipment distributor and diesel engine packager serving the construction, oilfield, agriculture and marine industries;  Senior Vice-President (& CFO) of Edison Enterprises, a rapid, organic growth conglomerate including a national residential security company and a refrigeration equipment repair and installation business;  Interim CFO of American Specialty Health; CFO of Arcus Enterprises, WellPoint’s rapid growth, strategic diversification subsidiary; CEO of SFE Technologies, a publicly traded electronic components manufacturer; Executive Director of Moore Industries, an electronic instruments manufacturer; Interim General Manager of ATI, a leading domestic tour operator; Interim General Manager of Hixson Metal Finishing, a leading aerospace metal plating and anodizing company; and Executive Vice President & CFO of PortBlue, a developmental software company focused on the healthcare industry. 

 
Kuehn is a Director of PortBlue and an Executive Committee member of Moore Industries. He received his MBA from Harvard University; his BA with Distinction from Stanford University; and has completed service with the U.S. Navy with the rank of Lieutenant.  He has been active in leadership positions with several community organizations including the American Red Cross, Harvard Business School Alumni, Stanford Junior Alumni, and Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
