William
H. Pavony
Bill Pavony brings the
broad perspective and maturity of more than 40 years of solid business
experience to create solutions and sound strategies for multi-million dollar
companies experiencing difficulties. His expertise lies in his ability to
evaluate, identify and resolve the needs for a company to experience its
maximum potential. During his career he has held responsibility as a
corporate officer for direction of the controllership, treasury, tax,
information systems, warehousing & distribution, insurance & risk
management, human resources, real estate and legal functions at various
times for publicly and privately held companies with annual revenues ranging
up to $1 billion. Pavony has held significant positions including Executive
Vice President, CFO, Vice President, Controller and Senior Manager.
He began his career with
10 years consulting at Accenture, formerly Arthur Andersen & Co.’s
consulting division, specializing in manufacturing clients such as Hershey
Foods, Carrier Corporation and Exide Batteries. Throughout his numerous
manufacturing assignments, many companies benefited from his cost accounting
and inventory control proficiency. He subsequently held corporate financial
and administrative officer positions (generally as Chief Financial and
Administrative Officer) over the next 20 years with 5 different publicly and
privately held corporations with revenues ranging from $175 million to in
excess of $1 billion. This inclcuded retail and manufacturing businesses as
diverse as Zale Corporation (jewelry retail and manufacturing), Color Tile
(retail, manufacturing and franchising), The Kobacker Company (retail shoe
chain), Alexanders Department Stores (regional retail) and Purolator (auto
parts manufacturing, courier and armored car services). During this period
Pavony accomplished over $400 million in financings for his companies, made
numerous SEC filings and upgraded and modernized the systems in all his
companies.
With Purolator, Inc., an
auto-parts manufacturing company, he held the position of Vice
President/Controller. He was responsible for accounting policies and
procedures, internal controls and internal audits, cost accounting, budgets
and financial planning. He also participated in acquisitions & divestures,
and relations with outside auditors. At Purolator Services, Inc., a
division of Purolator, Inc., he was responsible to the CEO for all
accounting policies and systems, federal and state regulatory reporting,
long range planning and budgets, operational audits, income taxes, cash
management and relations with outside auditors.
In recent years his
consulting experience has included clients such as Finlay Jewelers, Baker
Shoe, Sport Chalet, JCPenney Direct, BDS Marketing, Joseph-Beth Booksellers
and Conlin's Furniture with projects that have ranged from development of
strategic systems plans to RFP preparation and ERP software selection and
installation, executive management metrics identification and reporting, as
well as merger & acquisition evaluations, and turnaround & restructuring
consulting.
Pavony graduated Cum
Laude from Hofstra University with a B.B.A. in Accounting. He is a
Certified Public Accountant and a member of Financial Executives
International, having served as an officer and director of several chapters.
Additionally, Pavony is a member of the AICPA and the New York State
Society of CPA’s and a past member of the Institute of Management
Accountants.
