William
H. Pavony
During the last 35 years, William H. Pavony has created solutions and sound
strategies to multi-million dollar companies experiencing challenges. His
expertise lies in his ability to evaluate, identify and resolve the needs
for a company to experience its maximum potential. He has held
responsibility for direction of the controllership, treasury, tax,
information systems, insurance & risk management, human resources,
warehousing & distribution, real estate and legal functions for publicly and
privately held companies with annual revenues ranging from $175 million to
$1 billion. Pavony has held significant positions during his career
including Vice President, Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
(“CFO”), Controller and Senior Manager.
Pavony began his career with 10 years consulting at Accenture; formerly
Arthur Andersen & Co.’s consulting division, specializing in manufacturing
clients such as Hershey Foods, Carrier Corporation and Exide Batteries.
Throughout his numerous manufacturing assignments, many companies benefited
from his cost accounting proficiency.
Consulting over the past decade for clients such as Finlay Jewelers, Baker
Shoe, Sport Chalet, JCPenney Direct, BDS Marketing, Joseph-Beth Booksellers
and Conlin's Furniture, his projects have ranged from corporate financings,
turnaround plans, merger & acquisition evaluation and integration,
information systems analysis and planning, strategic operating plans, RFP's
and installations.
Additionally, Bill has served as CFO, for the following companies: Zales
(jewelry); Alexanders Department Stores; Color Tile (flooring); and The
Kobacker Company (retail shoes). As CFO he had primary responsibility for
numerous SEC filings, and modernized and upgraded the financial systems in
each of those companies.
With
Purolator, Inc., an auto-parts manufacturing company, Pavony held the
position of Vice President/Controller. He was responsible for accounting
policies and procedures, internal controls and internal audits, budgets and
financial planning. He also participated in acquisitions and divestures,
and relations with outside auditors. At Purolator Services, Inc., a
division of Purolator, Inc., he was responsible to the CEO for all
accounting policies and systems, federal and state regulatory reporting,
long range planning and budgets, operational audits, income taxes, cash
management and relations with outside auditors.
Pavony graduated Cum
Laude from Hofstra University with a B.B.A. in Accounting. He is a
Certified Public Accountant in New York and a member of Financial Executives
International, having served as an officer and director of several chapters.
Additionally, Pavony is a member of AICPA, and the New York State Society
of CPA’s.
